Where is your acne?

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Where your acne is located can tell you much about the probable cause.  For example, many people experience perioral acne (acne around the mouth and on the chin) when they are “hormonal.”  Acne that is on or around the hairline and down the sides of the cheeks can be caused by hair products.  To find out more acne facts, visit the Kairos acne help center at http://www.kairosclear.com/acne-help/

How to use Kairos for best results…

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Many customers have called about how and when to use Kairos Acne Solutions.  The simple answer is… whenever you wash your hair! Just using the shampoo and then using salon conditioners WILL NOT WORK effectively to clear up your acne!  Additionally, using Kairos Shampoo and Conditioner and then using your old styling products WILL NOT WORK effectively to clear up your acne!  Many people ask if they can use their “regular” shampoo and conditioner and then use Kairos when they get breakouts.  The answer is… not if you want to get clear and stay clear! The way Kairos works is to help treat the acne that is there and then to help PREVENT new acne from popping up. If you go back to your old habits of using other hair products, you will not get the full benefit of staying clear!  New acne in the morning is never a pleasant surprise!  So, when using Kairos Acne Care Solutions, make sure you follow the directions carefully for each product and stick with the Kairos hair care line for all of your cleansing, conditioning and styling needs.  Kairos – Where healthy hair and clear skin meet!

How Hair Can Aggravate Acne

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

If you’re reading this blog, chances are you already know that hair can aggravate acne.  What might not be so entirely clear is how.  The truth is, there are many ways in which hair exacerbates acne conditions.

Damaging Hair Products

It might seem unexpected, because you never spray hairspray in your face, but the hair products you use can contribute a great deal to acne problems.  There are two primary reasons for this.  Firstly, hair products actually do come in contact with the skin on your face, even when you’re not aware of it.  This can happen several ways: when you wash your hair and the product runs into your face, while applying (especially with sprays), when you touch your hair and then your face, and when hair lies on skin are all circumstances that get hair product on your face.  Also, when you sleep, product can get on your pillow, which then spreads everywhere.

Another reason that hair products irritate acne is because some of them increase production of sebum, a natural oil.  In moderate quantities, sebum is good, but when there is too much, it can spread on your face, causing an overabundance of oily skin, which leads to favorable conditions for acne.  That’s why it’s so important to pick your hair products carefully, especially if you have acne.  Not doing so can have serious consequences for your skin.

Knowing How to Prevent Acne is Half the Battle

Now that you know what role hair can play in acne, it’s easier to help prevent that unfortuante interaction.  We offer a whole range of anti-acne hair care products which are designed to not only help eliminate the issues caused by hair products but to actually help treat the acne itself.  To avoid the complications associated with using irritating hair styling products, try items like our Soft Control Clear Style Hair Gel.  Products like our Oil-Reducing Pore-Perfecting Treatment finish the job by tackling the acne itself.
